Philanthropy and Leadership
At Positive Leadership, we believe that positive leaders have the power to change the world. The concepts of philanthropy and leadership are closely intertwined and mutually-reinforcing. Much like leadership, philanthropy can be understood as an activity that anyone can practice and hone in their own lives.
Our staff have decades of experience facilitating community-based philanthropic education and programming that cultivate participants’ leadership and personal growth.
Philanthropy at Work - One company making a difference.
Philanthropy at Work (PAW) is an advanced leadership development program that channels the energy of companies to build stronger communities.
How it works:
A small group of exceptional employees is selected to form a cohort. Together they identify a philanthropic focus and create a project to improve conditions in the community. At the conclusion of the program participants will have created a prototype of their project that can be implemented in other communities–something we refer to as a “social franchise.”
Why it matters:
PAW is a vehicle not only to continue this legacy of making a difference but also to invest in the growth and development of employees. PAW is a powerful way to strengthen bonds at the workplace, develop leadership and communication skills, and give employees a sense of purpose and belonging - all while making a tangible positive contribution to the wider community.
PAW is born out of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) which has successfully operated in Tulsa for over 15 years under the direction of Positive Leadership founder Adam Seaman.
Previous YPI project topics include:
Adolescent depression
Access to healthy food options
Fostering civil discourse in a heated political climate
Promoting volunteerism
